Kitimat Sentinel - That bridge, that cross

Kitimat Sentinel - That bridge, that cross: "Many springs ago on a melting Saturday afternoon, I was hiking doggedly behind my ever more energetic brothers, through the soggy northern Ontario bush.

The trek became much more exciting as we came upon a gushing flooding stream. The banks were steep, about 10 - 15 feet above the water. Of course, the other side is where older brother wanted to be.

Clambering along the bank we came to what was needed; a way across! A rather old log, less than 10 inches in diameter had been dropped across the 20 foot span."

The open house takes place on Wednesday, April 27, from 7-9 p.m. and it will give residents a chance to tell town staff, council members and a citizens committee how they want to see Riverview grow over the next five years.

An 11-person citizens committee is working with council members, town staff and the Greater Moncton Planning District Commission to come up with the municipal plan. Town council has stressed that it's imperative residents speak up so council and staff have a good idea what residents want."

Parks Canada announces summer line up

Toronto, April 16, 2011 -- Parks Canada is marking its 100th birthday by bringing some of its most unforgettable visitor experiences into the heart of Canada’s biggest cities – and the celebration doesn’t end there. This year’s centennial will include free entry days and exciting events at Parks Canada's more than 200 national parks and historic sites, animating Canada's treasured places like never before.

Parks Canada CEO Alan Latourelle unveiled the first flight of the centennial festivities on stage at the Green Living Show during a performance by Sarah Harmer, her band and other musicians who are part of the National Parks Project, a series of 13 short films with original musical accompaniment being released to mark the centennial.

“Our centennial is a unique opportunity for Canadians to discover and rediscover some of the best that our country has to offer,” said Mr. Latourelle. “It will be an occasion for the Parks Canada team to bring our story to young people, urbanites and new Canadians in our largest cities, folks who may not be as familiar with Parks Canada as those living closer to our treasured places.”  Parks Canada
